I’m a high school science teacher with a BS in biology and a M.Ed in secondary education and an M.S. in chemistry with a focus in chemical education. Before I was a science teacher, I was a zoologist and zookeeper for about 8 years (including internships). I’m a huge fan of all things science and want to give more people the skills to be scientifically literate. That’s why I changed careers and became a teacher.
I’m also a huge fan of all things nerdy/geeky. I read sci fi/fantasy books, watch sci fi/fantasy T.V. shows and movies, and play video games in my spare time. I have a huge Star Wars poster in my classroom and a super powers poster in my living room. My library currently contains 4 book shelves and I’m running out of room (although my comic book section is a little thin at the moment).
I’m a Disney geek. I go to Disneyland at least 6-8 times a year and have seen every single Disney and Pixar movie. My entire office is a shrine to Disney and all things Disney animation.
On top of all that, I’m a pet lover. My house is overrun by my dog and two cats. There are squeaky toys, tissue paper in boxes, stray shoe laces, and old blankets turned dog beds littering my living room and office. And I love it. There is nothing better after a long day than coming home to a dog who is jumping up and down ecstatic to see you.
